I spent most of my life in California, and let me tell you – Californians do not mess around with their juices. Juices are a way of life and eating an açai bowl is basically a religious experience. If you don’t believe me, just ask anyone who grew up in Southern California. And if you don’t know anyone who grew up in SoCal then, hi. I’m Samah.
I am constantly impressed by the food scene in New York but one thing I just really don’t think it has mastered is a really good smoothie bowl. The consistency has to be right, the toppings must maintain a perfect ratio, and taste…please don’t give me straight up blended açai, you know what I’m saying?
Now I know what you’re thinking. Samah seriously. Just make your own smoothie bowl if you’re that much of a princess about it. And to you I say: yes, yes I will. And yes I did!
Top this bowl with your favorite granola, berries, nuts, and seeds. Here I used white chia seeds, strawberries, and a grain-free granola. And don’t be alarmed by the deep blue color from the blueberries – it’s called a “black hole” smoothie bowl for a reason!
Black Hole Smoothie Bowl

- 1 frozen banana

- 2 tsp cacao powder

A frozen banana is key to that thick consistency. Blend everything up! Top with more chia, granola, more almond butter if desired. Enjoy!
I just want you to know I’ve eaten this smoothie bowl every morning for like 4 days in a row now, and I have no plans on stopping. I obviously have a problem, but can’t stop, won’t stop 🤷🏼♀️ 🤤. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Haley!! I’m so glad you like it — enjoy! Xx
