I have a confession to make and you may want to sit down for this one.
I typically buy my hummus at the store. There. I said it. I know, I know! For a chickpea fanatic such as myself, how DARE I? Right?
Though I’m not totally proud of my actions, I will say this: I’m willing to work at it and the first day of this effort starts right now. With my brand new homemade Hemp Seed Hummus!
Bottom line: I’m breaking up with you, store-bought.
Hummus is insanely easy to make at home. Point blank. If you have five minutes, you can easily whip up this delicious, plant-based protein packed, put-it-on-everything hummus.
All you need is your blender, and some chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, hemp seeds and spices!
I used both tahini and hemp seeds in this hummus to boost up the protein that you already get from the chickpeas. The texture becomes extremely fluffy and smooth, not to mention that ultra-creamy taste!
I love to eat this with pita bread, seeded crackers, or raw veggies. I even mix it into salad as an alternative to dressing, or put it in sandwiches! And no I certainly do not eat this with a spoon, what are are you talking about…?
Try it and let me know what you think. Who knows, maybe you’ll even break up with store-bought too..
xx
